How does field trips benefit children?
Field trips were a really important part of my elementary education. I remembered that going to field trips was a very fun and educational experience. Filed trips are not only a fun experience, but it also gives an opportunity to the child to have an educational experience away from their regular school. Sometimes sitting down the whole day in one class gets pretty boring, therefore students need a break from being in a class and educational field trips can be a very helpful option. Educational field trips include zoos, nature centers, community agencies such, hospitals, government agencies, and science museums. "Not only do field trips provide alternative educational opportunities for children, but it can also benefit the community" (Kulas, 2014). Overall educational field trips do help students learn in a different environment and teachers should take their students to field trips that can benefit their education.

So true! Field trips can give students a thousand times more experience than sitting at a classroom ever could. When they go on field trips, they can see it; they can touch it; they can have their very own experience with the subject matter, which makes it way easier to learn and understand. I remember when my mom bought me a dinosaur book in Elementary school; I was fascinated with it, but I never really grasped the concept of how big they were until I went to the museum of natural science on a field trip when I was in middle school.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree that field trips are important. Unfortunately, in public schools, they have become more of a day off than a learning experience, with many schools only allowing one field trip a year per grade level.
ReplyDeleteI used to love field trips! I remember those more than all the 'classroom stuff'. But I think Tifiny is right, they can be more of a day off, especially in higher grades. But if they're done right, they can be very educational and fun!
